A PERVERT recorded himself sexually assaulting a sleeping woman before sending her the footage.

Alexander Jamieson pounced on the 56-year-old woman on various occasions at a property in Kirkintilloch on November 29, 2018.

The 58-year-old encouraged the woman to take medication she wasn't used to which caused her to fall into a "deep sleep."

He then filmed himself carrying out the brutal sex attack and sent it to her on WhatsApp. He refused to delete the video and told a jury he recorded it for "a laugh."

He was convicted at Glasgow Sheriff Court to separate charges of assault and sexual assault.

The woman claimed in evidence that she and Jamieson were having a "nice night together" on the night of the incident. He "badgered" her to take a tablet which treats epilepsy and was handed two but she consumed one.

Prosecutor Stevens said: "That is the last thing she remembers until she wakes up in the morning, naked in her bedroom with Jamieson beside her.

"She said she felt tired and as though she had a hangover but otherwise her day went on as normal until a few hours later, when Mr Jamieson sent her a video on WhatsApp.

"Despite him repeatedly hassling her to look at the video, she didn’t until a few days later."

"She told you she felt as though she had been punched.

"She had absolutely no recollection of what was shown in the video and was absolutely adamant that she did not consent to any of the sexual activity shown in it and wouldn’t have allowed Jamieson to do that."

The victim asked him to delete the video but Jamieson replied: "F*** off, it's my video and I'm keeping it."

Jamieson stated in evidence that he recorded the video "for a laugh" and that the woman consented.

Ms Stevens stated: "I would suggest that she has not gone to the police years after these incidents, relived them to the police and then again to you today in court, then endured all of you, 15 strangers, seeing her naked on the full screen of the Odeon, all for a lie."

Jurors also heard Jamieson was physically violent towards the woman between July 2017 and December 2018. He grabbed the woman by the hair in the living room and pushed to the floor where he then lay on top of her.

The woman reported having pain in her ribs and struggled to breathe.

In a separate incident, Jamieson grabbed her by the hair again and put her face against a cooker, before biting her face.

Ms Stevens said: "The woman was terrified that Jamieson was going to turn the cooker on."

The victim sustained a bruise to her chin, a black eye and a bite mark as a result of the attack.

She confided in her son who was later told by Jamieson: "I’m sorry for punching her, it will never happen again, I was out of control."

Jamieson's previous convictions include a High Court assault to injury offence from 1997.

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Sean Murphy QC.

Jamieson, of Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire, was put on the sex offenders register and granted bail meantime.
