AN INFANTRY soldier caught drink driving was fined £380 yesterday.
Regan Walker was snared over the limit in Glasgow’s Pollokshaws on May 9 this year.
The 24-year-old claimed he drank lager before setting off in his Ford Fiesta.
Walker agreed with a Sheriff when it was stated that it was “an expensive couple of pints.”
Walker pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to drink driving.
The court heard police attention was drawn to Walker’s motor and their blue lights were flashed.
Walker came to a stop before officers approached the car.
Prosecutor Rachel Wedlock said: “Officers spoke to Walker who was the driver and there was a strong smell of alcohol coming from his car.
“Due to him slurring his words and having a tired to look in his eyes, a roadside test was carried out.”
Walker was then arrested before a further test was done at the police station.
Ms Wedlock said: “This test confirmed 27 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.”

William Mackay, defending, told the court: “He was with his cousin and unwisely he drank two pints of lager, as he told the police.
“He is a young man who is single and in the army as an infantry man.
“Not being able to drive is an inconvenience for him in the army but doesn’t matter to what he does but will cause a problem to his social life.
“He is aware the army will also charge him as he has brought the army into disrepute and will receive a sizeable fine.”
The court, which included his supervising officer, heard Walker’s previous convictions included a behaving in a threatening or abusive manner charge as well as one for an air rifle.
Sheriff Brian Cameron said: “It’s an expensive couple of pints, Mr Walker.”
He replied: “Yes, sir.”
The sheriff followed up: “You won’t make that mistake again, will you?”
Walker stated: “No, sir.”
