Still Game actor Sanjeev Kohli has revealed that he once performed a very last-minute gig at the Lisbon Lions show after comedian Kevin Bridges pulled out to perform for Barack Obama instead.

An avid Celtic fan, Sanjeev was more than happy to be an eleventh-hour sub for the gig in front of many of his favourite footballers.

He told the Life with Brian podcast: “It was the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions in 2017, I got a late call from the PR guys at Celtic.

“They were honest about it and said, ‘cards on the table, there’s going to be a big do at the Hydro celebrating 67 but Kevin Bridges has had to pull out to do an event with Barack Obama who is in Scotland’.”

“I said I’d be happy to do it. They said I would be introducing Rod Stewart and would only be doing a few minutes.

“It was one of the best nights of my life.”

To add an even more surreal twist to the evening, Sanjeev had a surprise backstage encounter with former club manager Brendan Rogers, just minutes after he had joked about him onstage.

Sanjeev said: “I said Brendan Rogers, who I didn’t realise was next on after me, he’s a superhero and he’s the only man to kiss Leigh Griffiths and not get pregnant.

“But when I walked off stage he was standing there.

“I said ‘no offence mate’ and he said don’t worry and gave me one of his 100watt smiles.”

Sanjeev's whirlwind evening was a part of the Celebrate 67 event at the OVO hydro to mark the 50th anniversary of Celtic's European cup victory against Milan.

Other performers included Rod Stewart, Susan Boyle and Michelle McManus.
