TRIBUTES have poured in for teenager Amber Gibson following her tragic death.

The 16-year-old's body was found at Cadzow Glen, Hamilton, on Sunday morning. Police have since launched a murder inquiry. 

People from the community, and beyond, have paid tribute to the teen.

Local councillor Josh Wilson said: "Thinking of Amber’s friends and family at what must be a horrific time."

Amber is known to have left her home in the Hillhouse area at around 9.15pm on Friday.

She was last seen in Cadzow Street around 9.55pm, before her body was discovered at 10.10am on Sunday.

Thousands of people have sent their thoughts to Amber's loved ones.

Natalie Barr said: "So tragic, thoughts are with her family and friends at this awful time. Fly high young lady."

Ashley Bennett wrote: "So sad...don’t take a second for granted! Such a young life taken far too soon! Thinking of her family and friends at this horrible time."

J Mcilwham added: "This world's a cruel place. Rest in peace kid, thoughts are with her friends and family."

Police Scotland has also paid tribute, as well as urged anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Superintendent Raymond Brown, from Police Scotland Major Investigations Team West, said: “Our thoughts very much remain with Amber’s loved ones and we will continue to support them through this terrible time.

“Whilst our enquiries continue, we are asking for anyone with any information on what happened to Amber, or anyone who believes they saw her at any point of her movements between Friday and Sunday, to please come forward.”

Chief Inspector Briony Daye, Local Area Commander, added: “There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days and anyone with concerns can speak with local officers at any time."
