SPECIALIST police looking for a missing man will be searching the River Clyde today. 

The force confirmed the Marine Unit will be assisting in the search for missing Harthill man Derek Beattie. 

The Glasgow Times previously reported Derek, 39, was last seen talking to a man outside Grace's Bar in the city centre around 7.35pm on Saturday, November 27.

Glasgow Times:

He then crossed King George V Bridge and headed in the direction of Commerce Street. 

Now, police say they believe he may have entered the water.

Grace's posted on Facebook yesterday to try and jog the memory of anyone in the bar on Saturday and to say they wanted to see Derek reunited with loved ones.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are working to trace missing person Derek Beattie, 39, from the Harthill area with their efforts continuing today. 

"Derek was reported missing on Sunday and believed to have been last seen in the Glasgow City Centre area on Saturday evening. 

"Enquiries have led officers to believe that Derek may have entered the water around the King George V Bridge and searches of that area will be conducted today with the assistance of the Marine Unit. 

"Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information to contact them by calling 101 and quoting incident number 1541 of November 28."
