THE PRINCIPAL of Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) has announced she will step down from the role after 17 years.
Professor Pamela Gillies will leave in December 2022 and the process to find her replacement will begin immediately.
Under her leadership, the university has grown from strength to strength.

Professor Gillies took the reins in January 2006 and led the university to its strong position in higher education and in widening participation for those who do not come from a traditional academic background.
GCU has also placed more emphasis on student wellbeing during Professor Gillies tenure.

The university has also seen campuses open in London and New York and has led pioneering research during the Covid-19 pandemic as well as hosting Glasgow’s first walk-in test centre, providing vital PPI equipment and nursing and other health and social care students for the NHS frontline.
