KEY workers are set to receive a "rock star thank you" later this month as a special tour kicks off in Glasgow. 

The Big Thank You Tour, organised by Virgin Radio UK, is taking place to celebrate key workers across the UK "that kept the country going". 

Shows will begin in Glasgow at the OVO Hydro on December 20 before finishing in London at The SSE Arena, Wembley on December 23.

We previously reported that Glasgow rockers The Fratellis will join a host of musical performers at the event. 

The band recently won The King Tut’s Songwriting Award at the 2021 Specsavers Scottish Music Awards held at the Barrowland Ballroom in the city's East End. 

Guests will be treated to performances from artists including Kaiser Chiefs, The Fratellis, Tom Walker, and Isaac Stuart.

Virgin Radio content director, Mike Cass, said: "At Virgin Radio UK, we wanted to do what we could to celebrate our key workers and thank them for everything they have done for us all during the pandemic.
