WORK is set to get underway on a Paisley railway bridge next month, but drivers have been warned to expect delays.

Network Rail will carry out the work to strengthen and extend the lifespan of the structure at Incle Street in the town. Work will begin on January 10.

Rivet busting and grit-blasting activities are set to disturb nearby residents as well as steelwork repairs and painting will see the road under the bridge close until April. The junction at Incle Street is a major arterial route through Paisley town centre.

Allison Flanagan, Scheme Project Manager at Network Rail, said: “The essential works that we’re carrying out at Incle Street will not only improve the look of the bridge, but will extend its lifespan for up to two decades.

“When complete, the bridge and the vacant building will be stronger and better protected against the elements, allowing us to continue to run a safe and reliable railway.

“The lane closures will allow us to complete the works safely and efficiently, and while some delays are expected, we appreciate the patience and support of the community during this time.”
