A DEDICATED charity will be delivering more than 400 parcels to families across Glasgow’s Southside this Christmas.

Home-Start Glasgow South offer regular support, friendship and practical help to families under stress in their own homes.

The team have partnered with the Glasgow Times as part of our Bank on Us toy appeal for a second year.

Colette Boyle, director, said: “Last year went really well – the main thing for us is that families are benefitting. It’s a lovely thing for people to be able to help make a huge difference to the lives of children.

“We support a mixture of families – we work with them for all different types of reasons.

“I think it’s nice being able to give them something that brightens their day, whether that’s because they are experiencing challenges through bereavement, mental health, poverty, isolation or loneliness. Whatever that challenge may be, receiving a delivery of gifts that otherwise they wouldn’t receive, can help.”

This year, determined volunteers will deliver more than 400 parcels to families across the city’s Southside. They will include presents such as toys, clothes and food.

Colette added: “We’re also delivering sim cards from Vodafone, so we’re making sure that families are connected over the festive period.”

Earlier this year, the charity celebrated its 21st anniversary and marked supporting 5,000 families, and in particular, 11,000 children.

Colette said: “I would like to thank everyone for making a difference to the lives of the children that we support living in the Southside.

“I don’t know that people always realise the impact that they make, and I think it’s really important that they know that anything just makes a massive difference.”

Donations can be dropped off at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall, 2025 Pollokshaws Road, G43 1NE between 9-4pm until December 14.
