Nicola Sturgeon is to give an update on the Covid and omicrom situation within minutes.
The First Minister announced she would update MSPs before the weekly question time with opposition leaders and other MSPs.
Sturgeon tweeted: "With the agreement of the Presiding Officer, I will give an update on the Covid/Omicron situation to the Scottish Parliament ahead of #FMQs at 12 noon."
It comes as health officials in Scotland and England warn that furhter measures will be needed to cope with teh rapidly rising cases of the omicron variant.
A circuit breaker lockdown has been suggested and the imposition of new measures before christmas have also been put forward.
Stureon is expected to outline the latest cases numbers and the latest thinking on measures needed to deal with it.
Professor Jason Leitch, National Clinical Director has said he is concerned about the League Cup Final on Sunday with 50,000 fans heading to Hampden for the Celtic V Hibernain match..
