YOKER teenagers have spent their night volunteering to help the homeless.

The kind youngsters from Yoker Athletic Under 16s club wrapped up for a freezing night in George Square handing out food parcels to vulnerable individuals.

The boys joined the Kindness Homeless Street Team, one of their team sponsors, and were put to task helping feed dozens of people in need throughout the night.

Proud coach Brian Sinclair said the team have grown to love the sessions and are already keen to get back out on the streets.

He said: "This is the second time we've been out this year. The first time we really had to talk them into it but they loved it, they had a blast so they couldn't wait to get back.

"We asked for volunteers and ended up with 26 out of the 30 team members which was fantastic.

"It's not just about the boys giving back to the community but it gives them an education about the misconceptions of homelessness."

Brian said those using the service, which ranges from people struggling with addiction to families facing financial peril, praised the youngsters for their hard work and friendly attitude.

The team are planning to return again in the new year with the hope of attending a handful more visits prior to the end of the season.
