There is nothing worse than leaving a takeaway without a key condiment.

Granted I am not sure curry sauce is classed as a condiment but when you ask for it with your meal and don't get it without explanation - your experience of a takeaway isn't going to be as positive.

This is perhaps why I didn't enjoy Glasgow city centre restaurant Yippon as much as I had hoped.

I chose the George Street venue for their amazing menu which is clearly labelled to suit dietary requirements for people like me with intolerances.

Choosing vegan when eating out is much easier to avoid dairy which is why I kicked off my Yippon experience with some vegetable Gyoza which was a little disappointing. It is one of my favourite starters whenever I eat in Asian restaurants but I found Yippon's rather dry and crispy.

My main I picked a plain vegetable stir fry with curry sauce - this part was missing, crossed out on my receipt although I was charged £1.30 for it. Did they run out? I will never know. They never told me when I picked up my order.

I also had a side of salt and pepper chips which saved my meal somewhat because they were beyond tasty. They are the type of salt and pepper chips that are both crispy and packed with flavour.

My partner choose the unique starter of salt and chilli vegetable spring rolls and mozzarella sticks with a main of black pepper beef and egg fried rice.

Glasgow Times:

He looked at me and said: "I wasn't that impressed, don't see the fuss?"

We picked up our order and everything was on time, and despite hearing good things about Yippon, my meal just didn't live up to the hype.
