WHILE it is exciting to see filming take place in the city centre, there should be compensation to local businesses for how much disruption it causes.

The Merchant City is used constantly for filming which frequently sees shops and cafes close their doors due to the disruption.

Even with pedestrian access, it drives footfall away from the area as people can no longer get parked.

IT really is time they ban fireworks. The noise levels on New Year’s Eve and the days after in Glasgow’s Southside have been horrific.

Some of us are shift workers, have some consideration.

FIRST Bus is to run a reduced service for the rest of this week because drivers are self-isolating.

I doubt if us passengers will notice the difference. A bus is the one thing you’ve very little chance of catching in Glasgow just now.

I WANT to say how pleased I was to read an article in your paper about Lochend High School setting up barista classes for pupils.

Often, schools are far too focused on pushing pupils towards university when they finish, whether or not that is in their best interest, so I am glad to know that students at this school are also being prepared for the world of work.

Our article in yesterday’s paper about the council’s budget got some people talking...

“KEY priorities are to tackle inequality and poverty in the city and help with the economic recovery from the pandemic”.

Is that why they slashed the funding for the Citizens Advice Bureaux? Nearly closing five of them.

How are people meant to recover without advice and support?

The council has syphoned off our assets, privatised the profit to arm’s-length organisations and publicised the debt.

In my opinion, we’ve had a capitalist city since councils became companies. Successive councillors have just nodded through the policies to let that happen and poverty is still growing.

People make Glasgow – they break it.

THE council needs to stop wasting taxpayers’ money. The city is a mess.

We don’t need more millions spent on useless bike lanes that don’t get used.

SNP need to get a grip and stop with their repressing and deliberately damaging rules.
