ROCKBAND Idles have issued an update to fans ahead of a string of sold-out shows in Glasgow next month.

The group posted an announcement on social media yesterday regarding their upcoming gigs.

Performances in England are set to go ahead as planned, however, the musicians said they are awaiting news on current Covid restrictions in Scotland and Wales before providing further updates on those shows.

A statement posted to the band's Instagram story reads: "Idles England dates are going ahead as planned.

"We are continuing to await news on current restrictions on Wales and Scotland so will update on that as soon as possible.

"In line with government guidelines, the NHS Covid pass or proof of a negative lateral flow test 48 hours before a show will be required for entry into English venues.

"Even if you've been vaccinated, we'd recommend also taking a lateral flow test before going to a show."

It comes as Nicola Sturgeon announced new rules in regards to self-isolation and PCR testing earlier this week.

The First Minister said from January 6 anyone who tests positive for Covid-19 can end their isolation after seven days, instead of 10, if they have two negative lateral flow tests 24 hours apart and do not have a fever.

Close contacts of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 do not have to isolate on two conditions, the first being that they are fully vaccinated (first, second, and third/booster doses) and if they take a lateral flow test every day for seven days.

Additionally, if your lateral flow test is positive you no longer need to book a PCR test to confirm the result, instead, you should self-isolate immediately and report the result so that close contacts can be traced and advice can be given.

The First Minister confirmed that the existing restrictions announced before Christmas will remain in place until January 17.

Idles are scheduled to play to crowds in the iconic Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow's East End between February 3 - February 5.

The group recently released their latest album titled Crawlers.
