UPDATE: The road has reopened to traffic travelling westbound after junction 22.
A STRETCH of a busy Glasgow motorway is currently closed due to an ongoing "police incident".
Traffic Scotland reported that the incident took place on the M8 westbound between junction 23 (Dumbreck) and junction 24 (Helen Street) shortly after 2pm today.
The motorway closed to westbound traffic after junction 22 (Plantation) at around 2.20pm.
Emergency services are in attendance.

Drivers are being warned of heavy congestion from junction 20 of the M74 and on the M77 southbound to junction 1.
Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management (TRAFFCOM) team confirmed a diversion is in place via the M77 southbound.
Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes and to expect delays of around 45 minutes from junction 19 of the M8 and junction 1A of the M74.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at an incident on the M8 near to Junction 23 westbound, Govan, Glasgow, to which police were called around 2.05pm today, Sunday, January 9, 2022. No further details at this time.
"The M8 westbound is closed prior to Junction 23 and traffic is being diverted via at the M8/M77 junction.
"Local diversions are in place."
