A MAN was rushed to hospital after being attacked to the head with a weapon in Johnstone last night. 

The 43-year-old was believed to be walking his dog at Burns Drive, Cochrane Castle, when he was assaulted by a man with a "sharp implement" at around 7.05pm.

He was found injured in Tannahill Crescent a short time later, and taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital for treatment.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to speak with police.

A force spokesperson said: “Police in Johnstone are investigating following a serious assault in Cochrane Castle.

“The incident happened around 7.05pm on Sunday, January 9, 2022 in Burns Drive.

“A 43-year-old man sustained injuries to his head and was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital for treatment.

“Inquiries to identify those responsible are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
