A YOUNG Batgirl fan has had an exciting afternoon visiting the set of the film in Glasgow.

Isla Neil, eight, dressed up as her heroine to get a glimpse of movie crews transforming the city into Gotham for the new Batgirl movie. Glasgow Times:

She was accompanied by her movie buff dad Alastair who has enjoyed dressing up with Isla for years at Comicon conventions.

Alastair said: "Isla loves Batgirl so I thought I would take her up to the set and try and get some photos before they block off the area for filming." Glasgow Times:

The duo live in the Southside and went along after Alastair finished work, and Isla 'loved' seeing the city transform into the cinematic wonderland.

He added: "She loved seeing all the shops and murals and that it's like being in Gotham.

"Some of the crew were smiling at her and complimenting her when they saw her costume, it was really nice."  Glasgow Times:

The Merchant City is covered in various colourful murals and posters, and new shops have popped up to resemble the DC Comics universe.

Parts of the roads are cordoned off for crew to use cranes to decorate the flats above shops.

The dad and daughter regularly dress up as their favourite film characters, including Indiana Jones and his dad Henry Jones Sr.

Last year they visited the set of the upcoming fifth film in the franchise in Glasgow city centre, and Isla wore her costume.

Her ensemble impressed the crew so much that they invited her onto the set.

Alastair said: "Isla dressed up as Indiana Jones and I took her to see the set, and the crew let us have a look around.

"So when I saw that they were setting up for Batgirl, I said to her 'let's put on your costume and we'll go see it'."

Isla's latest get-up also caught the attention of a famous face - Batgirl director Adil El Arbi.

Adil, who has also directed Bad Boys for Life, called Isla 'the coolest Batgirl' after Alastair posted her picture on Instagram, before sharing it on his own Instagram story. Glasgow Times: Adil El Arbi commenting on Alastair's photo of IslaAdil El Arbi commenting on Alastair's photo of Isla

The pair are now even more excited to return to the set to see filming take place.

Alastair said: "Hopefully he sees her when they are filming and she might get to meet some of the cast."
