HOMES in the East End were left without heating and hot water for more than 24 hours.

Residents of Athlete's Village in Dalmarnock say they were "freezing" in their houses and unable to shower due to the temperature of the water.

According to one resident, who lives in the area with her husband and son, the problem started almost two days ago.

She said: "I am honestly shocked that we have had no heating or hot water since late Friday evening.

"I don't have small children, thankfully, but three of my household are just getting over Covid and the last thing we needed was to be frozen and have no hot water to clean things in the house."

She said she phoned their supplier, Vital Energi on Saturday and they said they were working to fix the issue but did not clarify what was wrong.

Another local - who has been living in Athlete's Village for seven years - said she also reached out to the company for answers, but they were "unhelpful and stopped taking their calls".

She added: "I have three children at home, two with health conditions and I also have some health issues and being left without as much as an explanation was just unacceptable.

"The water started running hot again around 6pm today again, but it's not heating up to the usual temperature and the same with the heating, it doesn't seem to be heating to full capacity."

According to both residents, this isn't the first time they have had issues with their heating.

Vital Energi and Glasgow City Council were approached for a comment.
