A MAN has died after being hit by a train at Bathgate station.

British Transport Police were called at around 2.34pm. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Services between Milngavie to Edinburgh via Glasgow Queen Street low level and Airdrie have been disrupted while emergency services deal with the incident.

ScotRail tweeted: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Airdrie and Uphall.

"Our services between Milngavie and Edinburgh via Airdrie and Bathgate will be cancelled or terminated at and started back from Drumgelloch. I'll provide an update as soon as I can.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to Bathgate station at 2.34pm today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the procurator fiscal."
