MOST wanted man Jamie Stevenson fled to Spain after cops busted a haul of cocaine worth £100 million.
He is being hunted after the discovery was made in a cargo of bananas, the Scottish Sun reports.
After being released on bail, Jamie is thought to have escaped to a bolthole in the Costas, weeks after his arrest in connection with a £14million street Valium factory.
He is also linked to two firebombings.
Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart Houston has warned that Jamie - known as Iceman - is a "dangerous individual.”
But he is now wanted over the huge narcotics haul which docked in Dover, Kent, in September 2020.
As we previously reported, the 56-year-old is wanted by the National Crime Agency (NCA). Gerry McLean, their regional head of investigation for Scotland, said that Stevenson is top of their fugitive list.
Gerry said: “He knows we are looking for him in connection with organised crime on both sides of the border.
“The NCA and Police Scotland will not rest until he is captured. Anyone who is helping him stay on the run will be targeted too.”
A source told the Scottish Sun: “Given Stevenson’s background, the decision to bail him now seems a huge blunder.
“This is a major criminal we’re talking about. Surely more could have been done to ensure he wasn’t able to just leave?
“He has previously been on the run when wanted over another serious crime so the authorities would have been well aware of what they were dealing with.”
Cops were also probing Stevenson’s known associates, but it is understood he has “cut ties” with people in Scotland.
His arrest was part of a crackdown called Operation Venetic — which saw more than £25million of drugs and £7million of dirty cash recovered in Scotland alone.
It came after officers hacked into the high-security EncroChat phone system to target alleged serious and organised crime.
Stevenson — also nicknamed Bull — is described as white, around 5ft 9in, stocky, with grey hair and a scar on the left side of his face.
Police Scotland and the NCA believe he has links to Barcelona and Alicante.
Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart Houston said: “Stevenson is a dangerous individual who is responsible for a catalogue of serious crimes.
"I would appeal to anyone with any knowledge of his current whereabouts to get in touch with Police Scotland or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously.”
