A CONVICTED sex offender has been fined after forgetting to notify police of his new address.

Christopher McIvor, of Yorkhill, was ordered to pay a £320 fine at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The 25-year-old admitted not complying with his notification requirements in September 2020 after previously committing a sexual offence.

Fiscal depute Danielle McGuinness said: “Police attended the accused’s home address and were allowed entry. The accused confirmed he resided there, however, indicated that he forgot to carry out the notification requirements.”

His lawyer said: “He assures me moving forward there will be full compliance. He will be mindful to carry out regular checks to make sure he is complying.

"He recognises the seriousness of the offence. I would suggest deferring sentence to exhibit this was a one off.”

But Sheriff Valerie Mays imposed the financial penalty.

She said: “I’ve listened carefully to what your solicitor says. This may have been an error, but you were made clear about the notification requirements imposed. There are reasons why these are in place.”
