GLASGOW comedian Janey Godley has revealed that the first album she ever bought was by the late singer Meat Loaf.

After the news broke of the rocker's death at the age of 74, she paid tribute to him on Twitter.

Janey, 61, revealed that she bought the iconic Bat out of Hell album from a record store on Shettleston Road in 1978 and "carried it home like a baby".

She said that she "opened the record player, took off my Donny Osmond LP, placed Meat Loaf on the turntable, dropped the needle and sat back on my single bed to let the HUGE music wave over my soul."

 

Janey added that her Donny Osmond LP was a hand-me-down, and buying Bat out of Hell, whic has sold millions of copies worldwide, was her first experience of going to a record shop and buying her own music. 

The award-winning comic has been battling with ovarian cancer and recently underwent a hysterectomy. 

Meat Loaf's passing was announced earlier on his official Facebook account, which stated that his wife and loved ones were with him.
