COMMUNITY campaigners will gather tomorrow to protest the introduction of the controversial Nationality and Borders Bill.

From noon until 2pm in Maxwell Square Park there will be talks and information stalls aimed at communicating concerns about the government's Nationality and Borders Bill.

It is being held on Kenmure Street, the scene of last year's immigration van protest, a show of community solidarity that generated international headlines.

Alongside dance and song celebrating the neighbourhood's diversity and community spirit there will also be speeches from Sabir Zazai from the Scottish Refugee Council, Pinar Aksu from Maryhill Integration Network, and the lawyer Aamer Anwar.

The Nationality and Borders Bill has caused controversial and been challenged as a racist law that disproportionately affects on non-white British citizens.

A statement from the group reads: "The community will come together to tell the government that, no matter our route to British citizenship, we do all belong, and we wish to see the powers of the Home Secretary reduced not expanded.

"This bill has created a chilling level of insecurity in the community due to the fact that if residents come to the attention of the Home Secretary for any reason, Priti Patel and her successors will have the power to strip them of their citizenship without notice."
