CAMPAIGNERS gathered in the Southside of Glasgow this afternoon to protest the introduction of the Nationality and Borders Bill.

Activists held talks and information stalls in Maxwell Park in Pollokshields from midday until 2pm.

There were also speeches from speakers including Sabir Zazai, from the Scottish Refugee Council, Pinar Aksu, from Maryhill Integration Network, and lawyer Aamer Anwar.

The group turned out to voice concerns over the UK Government's Nationality and Borders Bill, which is currently being debated by the House of Lords.

If introduced the Bill would see the criminalisation of refugees who arrive in the UK via 'unofficial routes'.

Members of the crowd could be seen holding placards with some reading "no human is illegal" and "remember Kenmure Street".

Today's demonstration was held on Kenmure Street, which in May of last year was blockaded by residents amid a protest against a Home Office raid.
