MARK WARBURTON says his QPR side showed the hallmark of a good team as they managed to beat Coventry despite not being at their best.

Andre Gray gave the R’s an early lead at the Coventry Building Society Stadium on Saturday, only for the home side to draw level through Jordan Shipley early in the second half.

Albert Adomah’s header two minutes from time saw QPR snatch all three points at the death, though Warburton believes his side can play a lot better.

“I thought Coventry were excellent and we were way below our best. I thought they moved the ball well with purpose and cleverness,” said Warburton.

“Had we emerged from the game with a point I would have said we were fortunate, so that was very much the case for us to emerge with all three points.

“That’s football and that’s the Championship. The players found a way to win. If you are below your best and you find a way to emerge with all three points, that’s the sign of a good team.”

Saturday’s win was a fourth straight away victory for QPR, and a fourth league win in a row overall as well.

The R’s now sit fourth in the Championship, just two points behind Bournemouth and Blackburn in second and third, with a game in hand on both.

But Warburton says the focus is solely on his side, not on the teams around them.

He said: “It’s all about the next game, it’s as simple as that. There are too many points left to fight for to think about anything else. All we can worry about is QPR.

“We know we are a good team but this division is full of good teams. We know what we have to do to win games of football.

“We saw against Coventry that we have to recognise quicker when we don’t play well what we need to do to change things, both individually and collectively.”
