The hunt is on for two brazen thieves who knicked around £66,000 worth of booze.

Two men broke into a compound in Cambuslang Road on Friday night at around 9.45pm with a heavy goods vehicle and used it to tow away a trailer full of alcohol.

One man is described as slim, average height and wearing a dark jacket and trousers, white trainers and a dark face covering and dark gloves.

The other is medium build, average height and wearing blue jeans, dark trainers or boots, black gloves, an orange hi-vis jacket and a striped beanie hat.

Cops believe that they will be looking to sell the booze and are warning people to be aware of discounted prices.

Detective Inspector Stuart Gillies, of CID in Glasgow said : “Two men were seen to enter the compound with an HGV and connect the trailer.  They then left the scene heading along Cambuslang Road.

One suspect is described as being of slim build, average height, wearing a dark jacket, dark trousers, white trainers, dark face/head covering and dark gloves.

The other suspect is described as medium build, short in height, wearing blue jeans, dark trainers or boots, orange hi-vis jacket, blue sleeves underneath, striped beanie style hat and black gloves.

“Those responsible will be looking to sell on the alcohol. If you are offered alcohol at a discounted price, you would be wise to suspect it has been stolen.  It is a criminal offence to buy stolen goods.

“Anyone who knows who was responsible should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1168 of January 23, 2022.”
