GLASGOW will be battered by strong winds on Thursday morning, amid a yellow weather warning.

The Met Office issued the warning for wind on Wednesday, which is due to remain in place until 12pm today.

The weather service is predicting gales and heavy rain, with gales reaching up to 41mph at 2pm.

BBC Weather is also predicting hail showers around 12pm.

The Met Office is warning of possible short-term loss of power in some areas, as well as delays to road, rail, and air transport.

Driving conditions could be difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.

Traffic Scotland has also warned drivers in Glasgow of surface water affecting driving conditions.

Glasgow is also listed under the areas affected by a yellow weather warning for snow, in force until 11am today.

However, conditions should improve during the afternoon, with sunny spells and calmer winds from 4pm.
