PUBLIC transport campaigners in Glasgow will take to the streets next week to call for public ownership of the city's buses, ahead of local elections.
Activist groups Get Glasgow Moving, Free Our City and Think Outside the Circle have organised a day of campaigning in St Enoch Square on Saturday, February 19.
Members and supporters of the groups will gather in the city centre between 1pm and 3pm, handing out flyers and rallying for a publicly-owned bus company in the city.
The description of the event, announced on Facebook today, reads: "Join us in St Enoch Square, for our first #TakeBackOurBuses Campaigning Day in the run-up to the local elections in May.
"We'll have 10,000 newly printed flyers and we're looking for members & supporters to collect batches to circulate in your local areas. Please come down and lend a hand!"

READ MORE: Glasgow City Council bosses to consider taking over the running of buses
It comes after we reported last week that council bosses would be considering taking over the running of buses to make the service "world class" as part of its huge transport strategy proposals.
Glasgow’s average bus speeds are poor when measured against comparator cities and ‘ridership’ levels are much lower.
To make it better, Glasgow City Council is looking at different options to change how the services run including a municipal bus company, a franchising system and a statutory bus service improvement partnership.
Get Glasgow Moving is a grassroots group advocating for better funding for public transport and publicly-owned services.
Free Our City is a campaign for free public transport for everyone in Greater Glasgow.
Think Outside the Circle is a petition to extend Glasgow’s Subway network to reach more people in every corner of Glasgow
