TWO more yellow weather warnings have been issued for the weekend as Glasgow is gripped by Storm Eunice.

The Met Office has introduced two additional warnings on Friday morning, for ice and wind.

Storm Eunice is set to bring snow and strong winds throughout the day.

The warning for ice will be in place between 6pm today and 9pm tomorrow, Saturday, February 19.

The storm has been rather mild in the city so far, with flurries falling in the early hours of this morning and the snow already turning into slush.

However, temperatures are set to fall further overnight, reaching -1 degree Celsius later today.

This will bring frost and icy patches on roads and pavements, as surfaces left wet by snow showers fall below freezing.

Although conditions are set to improve on Saturday morning, with some spells of sunshine, another bout of very strong winds is expected to hit the city around noon on Sunday.

Glasgow could be battered by gusts up to 80 mph, accompanied by heavy wintry showers.

The warning for wind will be in force for 24 hours, from 12pm on Sunday, February 20, until 12pm on Monday, February 21.

The weather service is warning of a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, as well as the possibility of injuries and danger to life from large waves and flying debris.

Public transport could also be affected.

A weather warning for snow covering areas surrounding the city is in place until 6pm today.
