GLASGOW rock band Glasvegas have had to pull out of a much-anticipated show later this week due to Covid cases among band members.

The gig was set to take place at SWG3 in Partick on Thursday evening.

In a statement posted to their twitter account, the band said they were "gutted" to announce that they would have to reschedule the show. They added: "We are absolutely gutted to announce that our sold-out show at SWG3 in Glasgow scheduled for Thursday, February 24 will be postponed due to a Covid 19 break out in the band. The new rescheduled date is Saturday, March 26.

"We are really sorry to all those who bought tickets and made all kinds of arrangements in their lives to get to the show. It will be disappointing to many people and we can only apologise for that.

Glasvegas last played in Glasgow in 2018 and told fans they were "desperate" to get back on stage

They added: "We know our home town show will be extra special as there has been something different about crowds this year. It's hard to explain what it is or how it's changed but it has.

"For some this has been an inconvenience whilst for others we know it will impact more deeply.

"Once again we are very sorry about that and hope everyone can make the new date of Saturday, March 26."
