SNOW and high winds are expected to hit Glasgow again this week, as a new weather warning has been issued.

After three storms hit the country in the space of one week, Scotland is once again bracing for a sharp drop in temperatures which will bring more snow, along with gusts up to 70mph.

The Met Office has released a yellow weather warning for snow and wind, which will be in place between 1pm on Wednesday, February 23, and 3pm on Thursday, February 24.

The weather service is warning the public of a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris, damage to buildings, travel disruptions and power cuts.

Meteorologists are predicting "frequent heavy and blustery snow showers" arriving from the Atlantic.

The showers will be accompanied by strong, blustery winds, with gusts of 50-60mph possible, and a small chance of 70mph on coasts.

According to the Met Office, showers might be accompanied by frequent lightning, which may impact power supplies.

Glasgow is set for snow late on Wednesday and in the early hours of Thursday.

Snow showers will turn to sleet on Thursday morning, while heavy rain is expected for the rest of the day.

At the same time, the city will be battered by strong winds, which will reach 49mph around 9am on Wednesday.
