A WOMAN claimed she spotted a murder suspect with a gun and heard shots being fired the night a man was killed.

Charlie Potts said Jordan Owens had the firearm as she looked out a window of her flat in Glasgow's Castlemilk on July 8 2017.

Owens, 27, is on trial accused of shooting and killing 23-year-old Jamie Lee.

Jurors heard how Miss Potts told police she also saw Jamie "stumbling and falling onto the ground" after the weapon was fired.

The 21-year-old witness was today giving evidence at the High Court in Glasgow.

She had initially clocked Owens that evening while she was at a nearby playpark with relatives.

The court previously heard how "two opposing groups came together" in the area on the night of the alleged murder.

Miss Potts recalled there being "fighting".

She went on to claim to jurors how she later noticed Owens "holding something".

Prosecutor Lindsey Dalziel put to her: "Can you describe what he was holding?"

Miss Potts: "A gun - I cannot remember the colour."

The witness said Owens was holding the weapon "out in front of him".

Miss Dalziel: "Did you hear anything around that time?"

Miss Potts: "I heard gunshots." The witness alleged four in total.

The advocate depute later took the witness through a statement she gave to police days after the incident.

This included Miss Potts being quizzed about seeing any firearm.

In the statement, she alleged: "I then saw Jordan. I noticed that he had changed his top.

"He was standing at the top of the stairs at the back of the play park.

"I saw Jordan in possession of a gun. It had a long silver pistol bit like the bit the bullet would come out of."

Asked in court about this, Miss Potts insisted she only had a "general conversation" with officers about the gun.

Jurors heard the witness also told police she had heard "four shots in quick succession".

Miss Potts stated to the police she had then been "distracted" by children in her flat and when she looked again Owens was apparently "gone".

She went to claim that after the gun had been fired she noticed the person she later learned was Jamie Lee.

The witness told officers: "I saw him stumbling and then falling onto the ground. His dad was beside him."

The trial earlier heard today from pathologist Dr Marjorie Turner, who carried out a post mortem examination on Jamie.

She concluded the cause of death was gunshot wounds to the legs.

This was said to be a result of a "single projectile" passing from left to right.

Owens QC Brian McConnachie later asked Dr Turner: "When you talk of a single projectile, what do you mean?"

She replied: "In this scenario, a bullet."

But, Dr Turner added she could not state what sort of bullet was involved.

Owens - also known as Owen - allegedly killed Jamie at an area of land near Ballantay Terrace in Castlemilk.

He faces two separate charges of attempting to murder Joseph Lee and Jordan Loughery at the same place by also shooting at them that day.

Owens denies the charges.

The trial, before judge Lord Beckett, continues.
