A WOMAN did not see her murder suspect lover for more than two years from the night he allegedly shot a man to death.

Stacey McAllister, 28, was pregnant at the time of her "on-off" relationship with Jordan Owens.

Owens is accused of killing Jamie Lee, 23, in Glasgow’s Castlemilk on July 8 2017.

Miss McAllister recalled dropping the 27 year-old off at her flat, going for food with a friend - and her boyfriend was then gone when she returned.

The witness told jurors it was around 2020 when she saw Owens again.

She was giving evidence at the trial at the High Court in Glasgow yesterday.

Miss McAllister told how she had been in an "on-off" relationship with Owens.

She recalled being 12 weeks pregnant in July 2017.

Prosecutor Lindsey Dalziel asked her: "Had you discussed the pregnancy with Jordan?"

Miss McAllister: "Yes."

On the night of the alleged murder, Miss McAllister was set to go out for dinner with a work colleague.

She then got a call from Owens asking to be "picked up".

Miss McAllister and her friend then collected Owens meeting him in a street near to his girlfriend's home in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.

She said he appeared "normal" and did not say why he needed a lift.

Owens was then dropped off at the flat in East Kilbride and Miss McAllister went out with her friend.

Asked about later returning and if Owens was there, the witness stated he was not.

Miss Dalziel: "When was the next time you saw him?"

Miss McAllister: "When he had been found. It was just before the pandemic."

Jurors were earlier told Owens was arrested in Lisbon in Portugal in December 2019.

Miss Dalziel asked the witness: "So from July 2017, you did not see him for two years?"

Miss McAllister: "Yes."

She agreed there had been a "lot of activity on social media" about "something that happened in Castlemilk" that night.

Brian McConnachie, defending, later asked Miss McAllister if she had been aware of a "disagreement" between the Owens and Lee families.

She replied: "Jordan never really mentioned much to me if something had been going on. There had been a few disagreements."

The QC went on: "On social media, was the story changing on a regular basis and there were people blaming Jordan for what had happened?"

Miss McAllister: "Yes."

Owens allegedly killed Jamie at an area of land near to Ballantay Terrace in Castlemilk.

Prosecutors claim the 27 year-old did "discharge a firearm" and that Jamie was struck with a "projectile".

He is said to have been left so severely injured that he died the next day in Glasgow's Southern General hospital.

Owens has pleaded not guilty. The trial, before judge Lord Beckett, continues.
