Michelin starred restaurant Cail Bruich has issued an urgent warning to social media users after revealing that its sister venue, Bar Brett, has been hacked on Instagram.

The West End eatery took to the app this afternoon to ask customers to unfollow Bar Brett's account for fear that they too might have information stolen.

They revealed that not only has Bar Brett been locked out of their Instagram, but are now being 'blackmailed' to regain access to the page which has over 10,000 followers.

Cail Bruich said: "Our sister restaurant, Brett, has had their Instagram account hacked and are being blackmailed to get the information back to reopen the account.

"Our first concern is that they could use this account to scam Brett and Cail Bruich followers and guests, so we’d ask you to please unfollow the old @bar_brett account and be on alert for any messages of wrongdoing.

"This hardworking bunch (photo from their reopening last April) and a few new team members have worked effortlessly to get the Brett Instagram to the 10k follower mark (which they just celebrated last week)!

"We’d love to try and get them back somewhere near that again as soon as possible, so please follow @brett.glasgow and please share far and wide!"

We wish all the team at Bar Brett the best with their new page and we're sure it won't be long until before they reach 10k again.
