FILM crews for superhero movie Batgirl will be moving to a busy road bridge over the River Clyde, leading to further road closures next week. 

It comes after the production take over George Square for 10 from March 1, where a Christmas market and giant tunnel were being built. 

The entire movie is being filmed in the city, with locations making an appearance in the film so far including Trongate, Partick, the Botanic Gardens, Merchant City, Union Street, Gordon Street and Hanover Street.

Glasgow City Counci’s website reports the production will now move to Albert Bridge, at the end of Saltmarket.

The road will be closed from Clyde Street to Ballater Street, with a portion of Crown Street also shut to traffic. 

Filming is set to take place overnight, with the bridge remaining close from 7pm on March 10, until 6am on March 11.

Saltmarket between Greendyke Street and Clyde Street will also close between 10pm on March 10, until 6am on March 11.

Restrictions will also be in place between the city centre and the Anderston area in the coming days.

Newton Street between Argyle Street and Anderston Quay, North Street between Anderston Quay and Argyle Street, Piccadilly Street for its full length will all shut in all directions on the following days:

  • From 7pm on the March 7, until 6am on March 8
  • From 7pm on the March 9, until 6am on March 10
  • From 7pm on March 10, until 6am on March 11
  • From 7pm on March 18, until 06am on March 19

Glasgow was transformed into Gotham after the council forked out £150,000 to secure the production.

Over the past few months, Hollywood stars Brendan Fraser, JK Simmons and Michael Keaton - Batman himself - have been spotted as they stayed in the city to take part in filming.
