Former Celtic ace Kieran Tierney is fronting a new Adidas streetwear campaign inspired by the iconic Glasgow venue Barrowland Ballroom.

The Arsenal left-back, 24, models the fashion giant's Spezial line which includes a 'Barrowland' jacket and trainers, the Scottish Sun reports.

Adidas' new spring-summer line will also feature tracksuits and coats named after Glasgow districts like Anderston and Trongate as collectors’ items.

Barrowland Ballroom general manager Tom Joyes spoke of his excitement that the legendary East End music venue has been an inspiration for the clothing.

He said: “Adidas got in contact with us and asked if we would have any issue with the name.

“Music and fashion have always been closely intertwined and we’re very proud.

“Adidas even sent me the jacket and a couple pairs of trainers.

“We’re going to get musicians playing the ballroom to sign some shoes and their box and auction them off for charity. We are absolutely delighted.”

Adidas launched the high-end Spezial line in 2014, and it is curated by designer Gary Aspden.

Gary searches archives for classic trainers which are updated and released in small batches.

The green and orange or blue and black Barrowland trainers are priced at £85 and the parka-style jacket for £280.

Drum and bass legend Goldie, Cast frontman John Power and Dr Who actor John Simm have all been seen wearing the jacket.

Kieran Tierney said: “I loved collecting Adidas trainers - I’ve still got my collection to this day.

“It reminds me of going to games with my friends, getting the bus or train, home and away, to watch Celtic in big groups.

“When we were younger, we would wear our Adidas trainers and Levi’s jeans.

“A lot of my friends went, so you were always dressed similarly and you’d always have Adidas on your feet.”

An Adidas spokesperson said: “Spezial has had a devoted following in Scotland since it first launched.

“The range often uses unexpected and localised names for its products.

“As a result of that, a group of Scottish Spezial fans contacted the curator Gary Aspden with a few suggestions.

“In acknowledgement of the love and support the range has been shown in Scotland a number of these proposed names were used across the product range.”
