GLASGOW is set for a spring day as meteorologists predicted a "mini heatwave" this weekend, with temperatures expected to reach 15 degrees.

Friday will see "respectable" temperatures for early spring, with the mercury hitting 14 degrees in the afternoon, according to the Met Office.

The weather agency is forecasting a dry day with sunny spells throughout the morning and some clouds appearing later on.

BBC Weather is predicting a mostly sunny day with a "moderate breeze" and temperatures varying between four and 12 degrees.

On Thursday, the Met Office has advised that we could even see the mercury hovering at around 18 degrees, in what has been branded a "mini heatwave"

Richard Miles of the Met Office said: ”I think you call it ‘Taps Aff’ weather, don’t you? 

“For Scotland, it’s looking largely fine and dry for the next few days and right into a lovely weekend. 

“I think the top temperature you are likely to see is 17C (63F) in Glasgow on Saturday.”
