A MAN is accused of robbing a 70-year-old woman of her handbag.
Abel Ghebrehiwret, 25, allegedly committed the crime against Alice Waugh in Glasgow’s Springburn on December 4, 2021.
Court papers state Ghebrehiwret assaulted Miss Waugh by seizing hold of her bag from her possession.
It is claimed he pulled the bag from her possession and pushed her on the body.
Miss Waugh is said to have fallen against a railing.
Ghebrehiwret then is claimed to rob her of a handbag, a purse, a sum of money, a number of cards, a set of keys and a quantity of medication.
Ghebrehiwret faces a separate charge of assaulting and robbing 55-year-old Lynn Stewart the previous day at a separate location in Springburn.
It is claimed that he seized hold of Miss Stewart’s bag and pulled it from her possession.
Ghebrehiwret then is said to have pulled her to the ground causing her jacket to tear.
Ghebrehiwret is accused of taking her bags and robbing her of a bag, a handbag, a purse, a mobile phone, a pair of glasses, a set of keys, a quantity of cards and a sum of money.
He pleaded not guilty to the two charges at a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week.
A further hearing was fixed for the end of the month.
