A PENSIONER is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old near a supermarket and asking another girl to keep a lookout.

William Melville, 69, allegedly had sex with the girl at the rear of Aldi in Glasgow city centre between May and July 2021.

Prosecutors state Melville also engaged in oral sex with the girl.

It is stated that he got a 15-year-old girl to be present when engaged in sexual activity with the 13-year-old.

Court papers state Melville asked her to be a “lookout” at the High Street branch.

Melville is further alleged to have sexually assaulted the 13-year-old in the city centre’s Argyle Street which included groping, kissing and uttering inappropriate remarks toward her.

Melville is accused of sexually assaulting two further teenagers on earlier occasions.

It is said that Melville attacked a four-year-old which included putting his hand in her pyjamas.

Melville is claimed to have committed the first crime at a property in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, between August and September 2011.

He is then stated to have sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl at a property in Cathcart between June and August 2015.

Allegations include touching her inappropriately and exposing himself.

Melville is also claimed to have sexually assaulted two women on Argyle Street in July 2021.

His final two charges claim that he breached a court order by having unsupervised contact with the 13 and 15-year-old girls.

Melville pleaded not guilty to all nine charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A further hearing will take place next month.
