A CONVICTED robber held up a supermarket - then fled on his bicycle.

Michael Diamond carried out the raid at the Farmfoods store in Possilpark last November 27.

The armed 34-year-old threatened a "frightened" worker as he was serving a customer.

Diamond demanded he opened the till.

He eventually leaned in and grabbed several hundred pounds of takings.

Prosecutor Isabella Ennis told the High Court in Glasgow how Diamond was not identified at the time - but he was seen escaping on a "distinctive" black and blue bicycle.

A CCTV trawl traced him at a pub an hour before the raid wearing the same clothes and with the bike.

Diamond was later arrested at his home in the nearby Parkhouse area.

He pleaded guilty yesterday to the assault and robbery.

It emerged Diamond was back on the streets having been freed early from a prison term imposed for a reset conviction.

His lawyer Paul Nelson said: "He has an unenviable record from the age of 16.

"He has advised there has only been a limited period of time that he has been at liberty since.

"This is his fourth indictment matter for assault and robbery."

Lord Matthews adjourned the case for reports until next month in Edinburgh and said he is considering an extended sentence.
