A ROBBER who held a man up at knifepoint to steal his dog has been jailed for 19 months.

Jamie Dunn, 34, pounced on Jamie Jenkins in the close of a block of flats in Glasgow's Maryhill on November 19, 2021.

The victim was walking Lennon, a tan-coloured Staffordshire bull terrier – when Dunn struck.

Dunn, who called Lennon by name, then made off with the dog back to his own flat before being confronted by the owner's two friends.

Dunn then struck the pair with the knife, but Lennon was able to escape back home with them.

On Friday, the attacker pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr Jenkins and robbing him of the dog.

He also admitted assaulting Shelley MacKie and Nicola McFarlane to their injury.

The court heard Lennon's owner, Nicole O'Connor, asked boyfriend Mr Jenkins to walk Lennon as she was hosting a gathering.

Mr Jenkins was then confronted moments later by Dunn who was clutching the knife.

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: "He presented the knife and demanded the dog and thereafter robbed him of the dog.

"Dunn then made off with the dog.

"Mr Jenkins did not know Dunn but it was clear that the attacker knew the name of the dog as he referred to Lennon by name."

It was found that Dunn had gone back to his own flat which prompted Ms MacKie and Ms McFarlane to attend.

He struck Ms MacKie on the head and body as well as on the abdomen, leaving a one to two-inch wound.

Ms McFarlane was stabbed on the head and a small wound was left on her face.

Mr Allan added: "As for Lennon, after the violence, the dog followed them upstairs and went back to the flat where he was reunited with the householders."

A 999 call was made before Dunn was arrested and the silver kitchen knife was recovered.
