OVER the last five years the Glasgow Conservatives have been holding Susan Aitken and her SNP administration to account with their woeful running of Glasgow City Council and our local services.

It’s time for change and the Glasgow Conservatives are offering that change for our city.

Last week, I and other colleagues launched the Glasgow Conservative and Unionists 2022 Local Manifesto entitled: Clean Up Glasgow.

It’s bursting of ideas that will rebuild our city and firmly focus on your local priorities.

That message of “Clean Up Glasgow” is not just a slogan for me.

It is a statement of intent.

Glasgow deserves good policies such as free bulk uplift, two-weekly bin collections and proper funding for our frontline cleansing services.

We don’t shy away from pointing out the facts that local residents raise with our candidates all over the city.

From Govan to Anniesland to Easterhouse, residents are concerned with fly-tipping, our pothole-ridden streets and many more issues caused by the incompetence of the SNP administration in Glasgow.

Outside of cleansing the Glasgow Conservatives will oppose any attempts to introduce a car park tax (workplace parking levy) or congestion charging.

I don’t support these regressive changes on hardworking taxpayers.

I promise that my Glasgow Conservative group will endeavour to keep council tax as low as possible with an ambition to freeze or reduce council tax for Glaswegians. Since the SNP took administration five years ago, they have increased your council tax by 16% and services have gotten worse.

It’s completely unacceptable.

The Glasgow Conservatives support our community venues and support the re-opening of all Glasgow Life facilities.

The current administration hasn’t been engaging with Glasgow’s citizens properly on their local sports and community venues and that must change.

We believe that there must be an Independent Review into Glasgow Life and whether it’s fit for purpose.

Glasgow has many cultural assets yet perhaps the one that has been most underfunded for decades is the People’s Palace/Winter Gardens.

The Glasgow Conservatives are committed to the full re-opening of the People’s Palace/Winter Gardens and have a plan to ensure continued maintenance of the building.

While the SNP have run our city to the ground and the Labour Party simply copy our ideas – we are producing a real alternative.

My team of Glasgow Conservatives have a bold, ambitious plan to take our city forward into the future. Supporting all our communities across Glasgow, keeping our city clean and investing in the future and frontline services.

If you want a strong team of Glasgow Conservative councillors making a difference in your community and Glasgow City Chambers, vote 1 for your local Scottish Conservative candidate on Thursday, May 5.
