SHAWLANDS primary pupils have been making their mark in local streets thanks to support from internet bosses.

Internet service provider Hyperoptic was given permission to brand street cabinets, the green cabinets on the streets where fibre broadband is connected.

But rather than use its own advertising, the firm teamed up with Shawlands Primary School and asked its digital ambassador pupils to design art.

Glasgow Times:

This has been painted onto the street cabinet near the school - and has now officially been unveiled by the artistic youngsters.

Charles Davies, a managing director of Hyperoptic, said: "We are committed to giving back to the communities we serve, via connecting community hubs for free, running digital inclusion programmes and supporting local charities.

"We have really enjoyed working alongside the digital ambassadors at Shawlands Primary School, and seeing the wonderful art they have created, which is today being displayed for the whole community to enjoy."

Glasgow Times:

Hyperoptic started rolling out a hyperfast full fibre network in Glasgow in 2015.

It has since connected nearly 30,000 homes and businesses across the city, enabling its residents to access symmetrical broadband speeds of 900Mbps, which is more than 17x faster than the UK average.
