A HOUSEBUILDER has submitted plans for nearly 120 new homes near Braehead Shopping Centre.

Bellway hopes to build a residential development on a 5.8 acre brownfield site, at the junction of Laymoor Avenue and King's Inch Road, in Renfrew.

Detached, semi-detached and terraced homes are proposed alongside a range of apartments for private sale.

A total of 39 homes and 80 flats will be built if Renfrewshire Council approves the planning permission.

The housebuilder says 32 of the homes will be affordable.

Glasgow Times:

In a design document, it reads: "A number of recent residential developments directly adjacent to the site demonstrate a proven demand for properties in the area.

"The site currently offers no public access routes and has been fenced off for a number of years.

"The proposed scheme aims to restore connectivity, introducing new active travel connections between neighbouring properties and shopping and leisure facilities.

"A new vehicular access route shall be introduced at Laymoor Avenue but will not offer access to King’s Inch Drive in order to prevent the residential area from being used as a traffic shortcut."
