A MAN was caught with drugs in his home after police turned up with a search warrant.

Officers swooped in on David Clelland’s property in Rutherglen at 8.30am on May 8, 2021.

A search was carried out and a total of 24 grams of cannabis was found.

Ziplock bags containing 13 grams of green herbal material were found in a bedroom, along with a further nine grams.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court last week, prosecutor Josh Dowie said the drugs had a total value of £240.

The court heard scales were also recovered as well as £365 cash.

Clelland, 34, appeared in court for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of the controlled drug.

His defence solicitor said it was her client’s turn to “do the bulk purchase and divide it up”.

Sheriff Valerie Mays revealed Clelland had no previous convictions.

His lawyer added: “He has no record and there’s been no offending since. He had employment history until 2018 when he gave that up to support his partner as her carer.”

The sheriff deferred sentencing for six months.

She said: “Given the date of the offence and the low level, I will simply defer sentence for you to demonstrate you can be of good behaviour. You’ve got a serious conviction now.”

Clelland will return to court in November.
