WELL, today’s the big day folks!

If you are reading this before 10am, then around 120 Glasgow Taxis are en route to Kelvin Way to set the scene for the 75th annual Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund trip to Troon.

If you are reading this between 10am and 11am, then the party has well and truly started in Glasgow with the children smiling and waving while the best dressed taxis are judged.

If you are reading this any time between 11am and 1pm, then those very taxis are making their way from Glasgow to Troon, enjoying the acclaim of so many people lining the streets as they travel through the West End, city centre and Southside.

And if you are reading this after 1pm, then it’s all gone tonto in Troon; music and entertainment, food and drink, face painters and sandcastles, fun and laughter.

You get the picture!

So, if you have seen this one final reminder early enough, and if you can, please get yourself down to Kelvin Way to join the party – or look out for the taxis as they make their way through the streets of Glasgow.

If you can’t do that, you can still support the trip on social media – just follow @TaxiOutingFund and @Glasgow_Taxis and the hashtag #TaxisToTroon on Twitter for live content throughout the day.

The last few years the trip did take place, we managed to get #TaxisToTroon trending, so let’s make that happen again.

Whatever you are able to do to support this great institution is appreciated – and the trip only exists thanks to people supporting it.

So to everyone at the Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund who has made this year’s trip happen, getting it going again after a two year hiatus, I applaud you.

And to all the Glasgow Taxi drivers who have volunteered their time today – the same goes, you are salt of the earth, no mistake.

I’m sure we’ll reflect on the trip in next week’s column so here’s to a successful day for all involved.

And as I write this in advance I do, of course, hope the weather is kind to you all.

One day – with a lifetime of memories.

Enjoy and stay safe.
