A FORMER bookmakers' office in Kelvinbridge could become an eatery.

Plans have been submitted to Glasgow City Council to turn the property at 532 Great Western Road into a "quality restaurant".

If successful, the new business is expected to operate from Sunday to Thursday, 10am to 11pm and Friday and Saturday 10am to midnight.

Applicant, Southside-based Sava Estates also plan on erecting an extract flue, which would support the ventilation of the kitchen.

The company has previously applied to transform a former Rangers store in St Enoch into a restaurant.

In the attached documents, they say they "aim to ensure that all of Glasgow’s residents and visitors have good access to a range of centres which are vibrant, multi-functional, and sustainable destinations providing a range of goods and services appropriate to the expectations of the population being served."

They also explain that Great Western Road has great connections to public transport, including buses and Subway.

The planning application reads: "Access will continue to be via the existing doorway direct from Great Western Road.

"This will lead into the main restaurant which will occupy most of the floor. Directly facing will be a servery which will act as both the servery for the main restaurant but also as a place for a customer to enjoy a drink while waiting to be seated.

"There will be a small waiting area which will be available to customers waiting to be seated in the restaurant. There will also be toilet facilities and an accessible toilet."
