Love Island winners Paige Turley and Finn Tapp volunteer at Glasgow soup kitchen

The couple, who won the ITV2 dating show in 2020, worked three-and-a-half-hours at the Glasgow soup kitchen.

The pair served hundreds of people soup, mince and potatoes and other food and drinks.

They also packed bags for the food bank and toured the unit to find out more about the work Homeless Project Scotland do.

Paige, from West Lothian, took to Instagram earlier today to express her experience with the charity.

She said: “I recently seen a video circulating Twitter about the amazing work these guys do around Scotland and had to get involved.”

She then went on to say that the night was a heart-warming, yet a saddening experience.

She said: “It was a bittersweet night. Truly amazing to see so many people come together but equally shocking that there is such a need.”

The Glasgow Times spoke to Homeless Project Scotland founder Colin McInnes, who praised the couple’s “overly welcoming” and eager-to-help attitude.

He said: “The server users were giving them a hug, shaking hands, wanted selfies, chatted with them and asked them questions about the show, and they were both very, very accommodating to all of them.

“They were very, very supportive and very, very interested in being involved.”

Mr McInnes then talked of the couple’s manner with fellow volunteers.

He said: “They were chatting with them about the work that they do, thanking them for the work that they do, and followed volunteers on Instagram. Paige even said that last night was a very, very proud moment to call herself Scottish.”

Mr McInnes also mentioned that a TikTok made of the two of them at the kitchen by members of Homeless Project Scotland has had more than 100,000 views.

He said: “They’ve helped spread the word and give knowledge of our charity.

“They’ve said that they’ll be back, and they look forward to continuing to support the good work that we do.

“They came as people and came to help humanity.”
