A man told a cop he was a “dead man walking” after being taken into police custody.

Colin Linning, 51, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week following the incident on June 19 last year.

Police were called to a disturbance between two groups of people on Buchanan Street, in the city centre, at 9pm.

Prosecutor Laura Martin said: “The accused approached police shouting and swearing in an aggressive manner stating, ‘what the f**k are you doing’.

“He continued to shout and swear. As police attempted to restrain the accused and place him under arrest, he lashed out with his hands.

“He was placed in handcuffs and continued to lash out with his arms. The accused was conveyed to custody at Cathcart police office and made a threat toward an officer. He said, ‘you're a dead man walking’.

“He was not formally cautioned and charged due to his level of intoxication.”

Sheriff Allan Findlay told Linning’s lawyer: “I have a fine in mind unless you wish to persuade me otherwise.”

Linning, of Castlemilk, was ordered to pay £270.
