A dog owner has appeared in court after their pet bit a child’s face.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was kept in hospital overnight following the attack on August 30 last year.
He was playing with Roddy, a three-year-old black and white Border Collie, in a garden in Pollok.
Roddy’s owner, Bernadette Craig, was described as being a “responsible owner” at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week.
The 58-year-old got the dog put down after the attack.
Prosecutor Laura Martin said: “The boy was playing with the dog, throwing a ball back and forth.
“The dog jumped up at the face and bit him, causing two puncture wounds to the face.
“The injuries bled profusely. The boy was taken to hospital. He was kept in overnight and received stitches to both puncture wounds.

“Police were later contacted. The accused was traced, cautioned and charged and made no reply.”
Craig’s lawyer revealed that there are no ongoing issues between the families and that they are on good terms.
He added: “My client is a responsible dog owner and made the decision to get the dog destroyed. She has been a dog owner all her life.”
Sheriff Allan Findlay told her: “You have been responsible; the dog has been destroyed.”
Craig, of Pollok, was ordered to pay £500 compensation to the boy.
An order banning her from owning or being in charge of animals was not imposed.
